Aloha Sailors!  Kawaihae Rally Update —

Sorry I’ve not posted for a while, but work commitments and a family wedding back in the UK has meant I’ve not been around much in the last couple of months.

I just wanted to give you all an update to our annual Kawaihae Rally scheduled for Saturday May 25th.

Whilst we do have a permit to run the race/rally up to Kawaihae, sadly we’re not permitted to stay overnight in the small boat harbor due to the start of construction of a boat ramp. Treasurer Joe and I took a drive up there last weekend to see if there was another possibility, but there isn’t really another good spot to tie up/raft up/drop anchor that’s permitted by the DLNR or DOT.

After discussions with both club and board members, we’ve decided this year to run halfway up the coast and back, with a party at the club afterwards. Joe will be the PRO and is planning on dropping a mark somewhere in the vicinity of Mahai’ula’s or Maklawena depending on the conditions.

There will be a mandatory skippers meeting at 6:15pm at the club on Friday May 24th

Details will be finalized at the meeting; the plan is for the race to last 5-6 hours, about the same time as it would take to get up to Kawaihae.

We’ll have free coffee and donuts at the club from around 7:00am on Saturday as the start time is 9:00am and Krisha and Judy are organizing a slap up feast at the club around 4:30/5:00pm afterwards.

Entry fee is $15 per boat and dinner is $5 per person.

Not racing???? why not go for a daysail and join us at the club for dinner.

Joe will need at least one helper so if you’re interested and would like to do a little fishing as well please sign up and help out!

See you all on the water —
